A Nationwide Drought Emergency in Somalia
Somalia is currently experiencing prolonged drought conditions following consecutive seasons of below-average rainfall in late 2025 and early 2026. The impact is being felt across multiple regions nationwide, particularly in rural and pastoral communities that rely on rainfall for livestock and agriculture. Reduced water availability and declining pasture conditions have placed significant pressure on household incomes and food security. Many families are facing increased difficulty accessing sufficient food and clean water.
Our Emergency Response
Provide urgent relief to 5,000 households—over 30,000 people—through life-saving water and food supplies lasting 15 days.
WATER ACCESS
Daily water trucking delivers 400 liters of water per family per day, with each truck supporting 25 families for one day at a cost of $200–$315 per truck.
FOOD PARCELS
Each family receives a full food ration for $65, including 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of sugar, 25 kg of flour, 5 kg of dates, and 3 liters of cooking oil.
MOBILE HEALTH
Mobile clinics provide treatment for malnutrition and waterborne diseases, offering essential healthcare access to vulnerable families in remote areas.
HYGIENE KITS
Hygiene kits are distributed to families, including soap and water purification tablets, to help prevent the spread of disease and promote sanitation.
