Our Story

It has been over a decade since Relieve Humanity started, and here is the story of how we began.

In the summer of 2012, Ahmad Rahman travelled to Karachi, Pakistan. During his time there, he experienced firsthand the perils of the healthcare system. Though he could navigate the system with relative ease due to his ability to afford treatment and medication, the experience still left him wondering about those not as privileged as himself. He came to the stark realization that those unable to afford treatment or medicine would be left with the heart-wrenching choice between self and family, illness and hunger, between pain and survival.

From this realization came the launch of Relieve Humanity on July 18, 2012, a registered not-for-profit organization in Ontario, Canada. Relieve Humanity then opened Shifa Welfare Free Medical Centre in Orangi, an impoverished suburb in Karachi, Pakistan and one of the largest poor regions in the world. Then in December 2017, we launched the Ehsaan Trust Hospital in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little.”
Sahih al-Bukhari

After this fruitful decade in which we’ve served over 300,000 people, we’ve decided to expand our services. Relieve Humanity is going international. As of 2022, we are now Relieve Humanity International. We have added Education to our portfolio and adding programs in Somalia and Somaliland in the hope of helping more and more people.

You too can be a part of this story

This is just the beginning of the journey. As a charity, we rely heavily on volunteers. The volunteers help us reach our goal of relieving the suffering of humanity. We would love to hear about your talents and get you involved to benefit the Ummah.
