At Relieve Humanity International, we stand together in solidarity with the survivors of the devastating double earthquake that struck near the Hindu Kush mountains in Herat province of Afghanistan on October 7, 2023. These twin quakes, each measuring 6.3 in magnitude, resulted in unparalleled destruction and tragic loss of life.
This catastrophe has had a profound impact, with nearly 3000 lives lost, over 1,000 individuals injured, and thousands of homes reduced to rubble across at least 12 villages.
Regrettably, this event stands as the deadliest earthquake to hit the region in two decades. The challenges posed by the rural infrastructure have only compounded the difficulties, making it a challenge to promptly assess the full extent of the damage.
“Those who spend their wealth for the cause of Allah and afterward make not reproach and injury to follow that which they have spent; their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them, neither shall they grieve.”
